So these are the things in the last 15 years that have come from that very moment where my husband was busted in a warehouse on Tyng Street. And he, he just remember feeling such a, that life was over for him. This is it, I’ve done it now. Like, this is it. I’m never ever going to see the light of day again, my world is over. But from that came all of this. So my husband has always told me that one of his greatest regrets was that the warehouse was actually for sell some years back. And he did not purchase the warehouse. And that was one of his biggest regrets as a Home Builder Amarillo here at Chaney Construction. And he’s, he doesn’t know why he didn’t buy it. He didn’t, he’s not scared of the place or anything like that.
But he didn’t buy it at that time. And so we would drive by all the time, and he would be like, man, I love that warehouse, and he may be slow down, and he’d be lying. You see that there are this here, I did this, or it used to be like this, or this or that. And he has so many stories of this warehouse. He just loves it as a Home Builder Amarillo. And so it was last summer in June or July, I can’t remember. But it was middle of last summer, and it’s pouring rain. We are headed to go check on one of our rent houses and it’s just become vacant. And we got to make sure they moved all their stuff out. And we’re about to head to Tulsa, Oklahoma. As soon as we’re done. There. It is pouring rain. And we drove by the warehouse and I darn near scream at home. The warehouse is for sale. There’s a first cell sat in front of the warehouse. Like you have to stop, turn around, go back, go back. And so we went back and we put the phone number in my phone and I’m calling and I’m like, Hey, you know you have this warehouse for sale. I was there any way that you can come and meet us? We’re about to leave town to go to Tulsa. So is there any way you can kind of meet us? And he’s like, it’s raining. And we’re like, yeah, yeah, yeah, we know, that’s fine. Is there any way that you can come and meet us before we leave to go to Tulsa. And I’m so excited because I have never seen the inside of this warehouse. And I want to see it. And I want to know, what is the inside of this thing look like. Because in my mind, it’s this glorious place, because my husband speak so fondly of it as a Home Builder Amarillo. And so just that those fond memories are are exciting to me.
And I’m like about to be able to go in there. But then also, I’m a little bit scared. Not not about the meth lab part. But I’m a little bit scared that somebody’s gone in and changed it all up. And then it won’t be the way my husband remembers it been, and that he might be disappointed by that. So the man comes up and in the pouring rain, and my husband tells me, he said, this is a great opportunity for us to look at the building because it’s raining. And we’ll be able to see if there’s any leaks in the roof. And I’m like, okay, that’s fantastic. Like, that’s great. That’s great. And he’s like, what would we even do with this place as a Home Builder Amarillo and Chaney Construction? And I’m like, I don’t know, I don’t know. But, you know, I’m like, nothing else on like, you know, depending on how much he wants to sell it for to Chaney Construction. Who knows, maybe it’s a really good price. Maybe he’s being ridiculous. So I don’t know, it’s just worth let’s just go look. And I’m like, but if it’s a good price, it’s a decent price. You know, we’ve been renting a warehouse space for floors, and more from various people the entire time that place has been in business. And I’m like, so if nothing else, if we could get it for a decent enough price, it could just be the warehouse. Like we had just store materials, they are four floors and more, and then we’re not paying rent to someone else. And if it’s not a good deal, we don’t have to buy it, but at least want to see the inside of it. So he’s like, okay, that’s great. So the man needs this up there lets us then we take a tour of the place and the look at my husband’s eyes, the entire way through that warehouse was something special.
And so we are going through and so the old man is walking in front of us, and he’s, you know, explaining different things hit this or that. And my husband’s like, well, I am familiar with the warehouse. I haven’t been in it in a million years, and this or that. And so it’s like, Okay, well, there’s this, there’s this, and there’s this roof hatch and blah, blah, blah. And so we’re walking behind him, so he can’t see my husband and I and my husband as he’s pointing out different things as a Home Builder Amarillo. Or as we were walking past different things, my husband just kind of gets this you know, little evil grin on his face, kind of like he knows will secret and somebody mentions the roof hatch, I’ve heard the story about how he why he put the roof hatch in. And so when he mentioned the roof, how roof hatch to see the grin on my husband’s face, it was quite comical as a Home Builder Amarillo. And so we’re both just kind of giggling like little school kids. And of course, my husband being the very blunt upfront and honest and kind of he likes the shock value things, you know, the asking him if he knows what, you know, who owns the building previously, if you knows what we used to be in the building previously
